Be careful and don't hesitate

 From MahjongSoul

Be careful and don't hesitate

In this situation, you must win this game.

But it isn't a rare to be careless and fall off the top.

What is the best option of this situation to win this game??

In this situation, you fall from top by dealer winning 6000 all or  your dealing in to dealer's 12000.

And, you can get the top even if you deal in to the Riichi by 16000 point (BaiMan).

Reducing the probability of 24000, I discarded green dragon(most safety tile) at the first round.

But this round, I must deal in to the opposite player to finish this game my staying the top.

So you discard the in a dangerous order.

4-7 p that you can see 4 tiles is very likely to deal in.

And then, 9m is the second.

Next, 2-5s is dangerous.

The finish is below.

Incidentally, added the concealed Dora in this case, this hand get 12000.

But this Riichi usually has 8000 at a highest estimate.

Because he can rise to the order if his hand had 12000. He through my river and bet his own draw.

Proper discarding and Contrary discarding

Form Professional Only preliminary match of Tenhou Meijin Sen

Answer

Commentary

Proper discarding and Contrary discarding

Pay attention to the area in the red frame below.

If you have the blocks below, what do you discard??

Most player discard 5 → 8.

This discarding in this order is called "Proper Discarding".

In contrast to this, a few players discard 8 → 5.

This is called " Contrary Discarding".

The reasons for contrary discarding are  that

・5 is close to Dora
・Look to  3colors sequence
・Disturbing your reading
and so on.

The third reason is especially important to note, because the higher the level, the more you see.

Nonetheless, this is rare case.
This is professional limited match, but even this case, it is Proper Discarding.

5s ( safety tile for dealer's Riichi) is relatively safe, because if you are left side player and able to win by concealed hand, do you call for Riichi in this situation??

This Riichi has two possibility, one of that you can't without calling Riichi, or your hand is very high and never fall.

In latter reason, 7p (also safety tile for dealer's Riichi) is very dangerous because if left side player wait this tile, he have a Dora definitely. (maybe discarding from  5 6 6).

7s is dangerous also, but a little bit safty than 6m. because 6s is discarded three, this called "one chance".

6s is very dangerous in this case. Never discard.

And 8s that I didn't have then is also very dangerous for dealer.

Discard the isolated tiles

Answer

Commentary

Discarding the isolated tiles

It seems same of  discarding  6m or 6p.

There is a difference when you draw 4 of each suits.

If you draw 4m, you have only Kanchan 5m.

But if you draw 4p, you can wait for 2 types of  7 tiles ; 5 6p

Remember that  "to collect around triplet is likely to be a strong form".

Don't miss above form.

Look to the best final form

Answer

Commentary

Look to the best final form

On a similar theme of  All simples or Flat hand??

3m is the worst,  because you loss the accpeptance of 3s and 4s.

If you draw these tiles, you can call for Riichi of waiting for 1-4m.

So this main theme is this comparison,

this final form for all simples ??

or  this final form for flat hand ??

If you discard 7m, this hand has acceptance of 2 3 4 5s  + 2 5 8m3 6m. (Except for the case of 1 4m drawing, because bad wating).

If you discard 5m, this hand has acceptance of 2 3 4 5s  + 1 4 7m 3 7m.

Considering calling, to discard 7m is able to calling 2 5s and ready for waiting  2 5 8m.

To discard 5m is able to calling 3 7m (for Pong), or 4 7m(for chow) and ready for  wating 2 5s
In this case, you can't call for 2 5s, because if you take 1 4 7m wating, you can't  win by 1m.

So 7m is superior to 5m

In many cases, it is easier to win if you look to ALL simples.

Pen-Kan-Chan ~Penchan+Kanchan~

Answer

Commentary

Pen-Kan-Chan   ~Candidate of the head~

On a similar theme to last time (Candidate of the head)

This 1 2 2 3 4 is called Pen Kanchan.

This is composed of "1 2 (penchan) +2 3 4  or  1 2 3 +2 4 (Kanchan)" .

From either point of view, it is the same as waiting for 3 to make 2 elements, but it is a good form to make 1 element + head.

If you dwaw 1 4 or 2 5, you can make 1 element+head.

And if this form is left at final form, you can call for Riichi by eating 1 4 or 2 5.

7 8  is strong form, so you gotta fix this form.

And you make head in Manzu.   It'd be great to draw a 6m=Dora.

Candidate of the Head

Answer

Commentary

Keep your eyes on Ryanmen ~Candidate of the head~

Considering 5 brocks, Manzu has 2 elements, so you gotta make 2 elements and 1 head by using Pins and Souzu.

Where do you make a head??

It's to good to waste the Ryanmen of Pinzu.

In this hand, you should fix Ryanmen of Pins.

You can make the head by drawing one more 2s, or 7s.

These tiles are not a part of Kanchan(gut shot), but a candidate of the Head.

If they will be head , you can wait by Ryanmen, 45s or 34p.

If you draw 6s, you can call for riich by 2  5 p.

And if you draw 3s, you gotta discard 7s and 5 s, and you can wait by 1 4s.

The way to take one before to ready

Answer

Commentary

The way to take one before to ready

At first glance, it looks like we're going to discard 3m.

If you look to Three colors sequence of 6 7 8 , this hand is two before ready.

You have to draw around 6s, and then, this hand can reach one before to ready.

If you discard 6s, this hand can reach for ready hand by drawing 4 6 9m.

Additionally this  6 9m waiting,

Can you see this Ryankan (double gut shot) ??

And

"9 tiles role (ex; Straiight or three colors sequence) is considerable from 7 tiles"

You gotta remember this Mahjong proverb.
