The choice was between Penchan and Kanchan, and everyone may choice to dropp Penchan.

So, which should you discard first, 8 or 9??

The theory is to discard the dangerous tile first, but in this case, you had better to discard 8 first.

The reason for this is the form when the 6 is drawn.

The following is the form when 6 is drawn, and this form is "strong" with a lot of variation. In this case, it is rather 6 8 that should be discarded

.

The theory of flat hand is always Riichi, but what if another player has already called Riichi first??

With or without a flat hand, following Riichi is the rule for Ryangmen ready hand.

The figure below shows the win ratio and deal in ratio of following Riichi.

The approximate win ratio is always three times the deal in ratio, regardless of the round.

In this case, in particular, I am the dealer, and dealer's score is always 1.5 times higher.

However, even if the player who Riichi'd first is the dealer, the basic rule is following Riichi.

Moreover, drawing 1m,5m, 7m, 3p, 5p, 3s, and 5s gives this hand Flat hand.

And 4m, 8m, 2p, 6p, 2s, and 6s is good form to call Riichi.

Still, we should discard 1m  here.

The reason are that,

If you discard 1m, you can back to ready hand by drawing 4m, 8m, 2s, 5s, 3s, 6s.

This can clear  the criteria (6 or more types) for baking from ready hand.

 And, you can call for Riichi by twice or Four times the score ( flat hand, and all simples).

If you draw 4m or 8m, you can get triple sequences.

Next merit is that whether or not you can call.

You don't need to draw 4m, 8m, 2s, 5s, 3s, 6s yourself.

If left side player discard it, you can call for chow for the same amount of points as if you had discarded 2m and 4s.

Acceptance of 6 or more types can back from ready hand.

In addition, if your hand is the above two conditions , you 'should'  back.

First, discarding 1s is bad choice.

If you draw 2s or 3s, you can wait 6-9p.

But the possibility of drawing 2s or 3s is only 6% per one rounds.

This is no way to compete.

So which is more advantageous, a single wait or a shannon wait ??

Shannon wait can not change to wait.

But single wait is very flexible.

If you draw 2m, 4m, 6m, 8m, and 1s, you can wait Ryanmen and complete Flat hand.

If you draw 5m, you can wait triple wait, 2-5-8m.

Of curse,  you can wait Dora, if you draw North.

8p is superior to 7p because 8p is safer to 7p.

Many player wants to back to one before for ready.

One criteria is 

"Back to one before for ready  if there are more than six tiles of valid alternatives"

Why 6??

The probability of drawing the desired tile in one round is approximately 3%  (1/34).

If there are 6 types, that's about 20% per one drawing.

 There's a good chance you'll get one of these tiles within 5 rounds (20×5＝100)

If it takes longer than five rounds, it's better not to wait in most cases.

In this hand, 1m, 4m, 7m, 4s, 5s, 7s, 8s, is valid to wait Ryanmen.

If you draw Souzu, you can wait triple sided, and look to triple sequences of 4 5 6.

You should back in such a case.

As I mentioned in my last article, three paris is the weakest form so you have to break up one of the three pairs.

① Including complex serial pairs → Fix it Ryanmen.

How about this case ??

Looking for 5 blocks, Manzu ; 2 elements, Pinzu; 1 elements, Souzu ; head ＋1 elements.

From this form, you had better not to touch Pinzu and Souzu.

Manzu can change form, if you draw 5 6 8 9, so you are not likely to be gotten backfire.

So the next theory of handling of three pairs is 

② Discard the tiles of the pairs close to consecutive tiles. 

     Otherwise, you remember " don't discard the isolated pairs."

Thus, when you have three pairs, you have to crush the one of the pairs.

So which pair to break??

There is an order to this.

The most priority to break up is the complex serial pair.

If you have three pairs including complex serial pairs, You should be trained to discard this  as a spinal reflex.

In this case, you should give up looking to 7 pairs.

There's a big difference between having one and not having one.

When you win by 7 pairs with dora × 2 is very big hand that is Haneman; (12000).

It is very bid damage, when you discard 3m or 7s , and draw west (Dora).

When you draw 7m, you should call for Riichi waiting for DORA.

If you draw 8s, you had better not to call for Riichi, also waiting for DORA.

Because, If you 1-4m, you gotta consider the flat hand and double sequence.

It is　still strong to wait Ramen.

Because the final form of 7 pairs  always wait by single wait that is only 3 tiles.

If you are look to flat hand, that means , you have a lot of Ryanmen, you should give up looking to 7 pairs.

Flat hand > 7 pairs, In another words, Ryanmen > single wait.

In this hand,  what should we discard ??

The point is that where is the candidate of the mahjong head ??

And avoid to backfire.

Of course, not to look to Double-double-Sequence.

If you discard 3m, you can call Pong 2m or 4p, and make all simples.

(It is easier to call Pong 2m than 3m. )

3 3 4p can make sequence or triplets, so you should leave .

This means that when you draw backfire, you make it means good for the hand.

In this case,  to draw 4-7p is backfire, after you discard 5p.

But, drawing 4p can have this hand All simples, and drawing 7p can have this hand Flat hand.

Avoid to backfire is all you will draw make your hand better.

Last archive, I mentioned that in one before for ready hand, the fastest procedure is to fix the head.  →Road to Flat hand.

This comes from the Tanki wait (single wait) is the very week on the final form. 

The exception of this is Dobble single wait (Nobe-Tan) . 

This hand is very similar to the hand in last archive.

The difference is in the Souzu part, this hand doesn't have middle surplus but have 4 consecutive　（→commentary of 4 consecutive；The goal of mahjong = How to make a double-sided wait）

This form has a weaker than middle surplus than in that this form has a risk not to become Ryanmen.

For example, if you have 3 4 5 6 , you draw 1 or 8.

But the strong point of 4 consecutive form is that this form can wait as Nobe Tan which is double single wait. 

In this case, if Pinzu part complete first, you can wait for multi-tiles ; 2-5s. 

When you have a head, middle surplus superior to 4 consecutive form in terms of it can wait by Ryanmen definitely.

But when you don't have a head, 4 consecutive form is very strong as a candidate of final form of Ryanmen or Nobe-tan.

Basically, chow should do "Call a bad form, and leave a good form".

Let's compare the leftover form.

You can wait by Tripe-sided wait. (2-5-8)

But you call with ②4 5p

You wait for only double sided (5-8).

If you are not sure, you had better call with bad form like Penchan or Kanchan.

As a side note,  if you are not sure whether Pong or Chow, you had better call for Pong.
