The answer is when you have the Ryanmen serial pair include the line tile of the center tile.

For example, is you have 2 3 5, you don't need 5 even though the early round.

But there is Dora in this hand and 5 pairs that is one before for ready.

In this case, you should give up looking to 7 pairs.

There's a big difference between having one and not having one.

When you win by 7 pairs with dora × 2 is very big hand that is Haneman; (12000).

It is very bid damage, when you discard 3m or 7s , and draw west (Dora).

When you draw 7m, you should call for Riichi waiting for DORA.

If you draw 8s, you had better not to call for Riichi, also waiting for DORA.

Because, If you 1-4m, you gotta consider the flat hand and double sequence.

It is　still strong to wait Ramen.

Flat hand is superior to 7 pairs, especially when the hand is all simples.

Because the final form of 7 pairs  always wait by single wait that is only 3 tiles.

Furthermore, 2~8 suits is usually in the another players hand, at least 1~2 tiles.

So there are very few tiles in the wall.

If you are look to flat hand, that means , you have a lot of Ryanmen, you should give up looking to 7 pairs.

Flat hand > 7 pairs, In another words, Ryanmen > single wait.

But, drawing 4p can have this hand All simples, and drawing 7p can have this hand Flat hand.

Exception for the timing to fix mahjong head

Last archive, I mentioned that in one before for ready hand, the fastest procedure is to fix the head.  →Road to Flat hand.

This comes from the Tanki wait (single wait) is the very week on the final form. 

The exception of this is Dobble single wait (Nobe-Tan) . 

This hand is very similar to the hand in last archive.

The difference is in the Souzu part, this hand doesn't have middle surplus but have 4 consecutive　（→commentary of 4 consecutive；The goal of mahjong = How to make a double-sided wait）

This form has a weaker than middle surplus than in that this form has a risk not to become Ryanmen.

For example, if you have 3 4 5 6 , you draw 1 or 8.

But the strong point of 4 consecutive form is that this form can wait as Nobe Tan which is double single wait. 

In this case, if Pinzu part complete first, you can wait for multi-tiles ; 2-5s. 

When you have a head, middle surplus superior to 4 consecutive form in terms of it can wait by Ryanmen definitely.

But when you don't have a head, 4 consecutive form is very strong as a candidate of final form of Ryanmen or Nobe-tan.

The reason is there is a difference in drawing 7 (pattern1) or 3(pattern2).

If you have discarded 3 first, your hand is below when you draw 7 

you  can discard 9 instead of 6, and you can get All simples.
